Kolke Group For Jack Kloke, of The Kloke Group, business success is all about the details. Based in Richmond, Virginia, with four operating agencies across the state, the firm deals with warehousing, logistics distribution, storage, moving, and relocation.

The Kloke Group is heavily involved with moving and relocations, and is an agent for Mayflower and United Van Lines. In addition, they specialize in office relocations, as well as moving specialized cargoes, such as libraries. For Jack Kloke, head of the company he founded back in 1981, opportunity was everywhere.

The challenge

With business opportunities in government-related moving and warehousing projects, Jack indicated that a growing challenge a few years ago was finding the right opportunities and getting the right information-with the details-to his managers. “Each of the four general managers of our operating agencies needs the information for their area, with the details and on time so we can compete successfully for business opportunities with the government,” explained Jack.

“The government, especially at the federal level, is one of our largest customers, both for civil and military moving jobs. In addition, we're growing our business in areas we term ‘special projects’, including displays and trade show exhibits. Keeping up on opportunities across so many government agencies was a real challenge,“ he said.

The solution

The answer was, where The Kloke Group has been a customer for more than five years. Email alerts are sent to the firm daily with the business intelligence that they need. “We appreciate that the bid information that we receive is targeted to meet our interests, as varied as they are. We use some key categories to define what we see in our daily emails, as well as have the ability to search using keywords, which works well for us,” he said.

“We look at the bid opportunities every day, so that we know what's going on in our markets.” he said. “We share that with the general managers in the different areas of our organization. They're the ones who use the information and get the job done.”

Jack Kloke is proud of his organization and his team, and notes that the employee-owned company continues its growth. “We're having fun and being successful at the same time,” he said, adding “We're very happy with the way the company has progressed.”
