SPCS For Static Power Conversion Services, power is everything. They provide back-up power solutions for the Washington D.C. and surrounding multi-state area. Since 1982, Static Power has been providing comprehensive sales and service solutions to users and manufacturers of critical “uninterruptible” power systems. Headquartered in Columbia, MD, and with a staff of more than 30, Static Power is one of the largest critical power service providers in the region. In addition to products and services, SPCS handles system consulting and troubleshooting, with the sophisticated monitoring equipment and expertise necessary to positively identify and correct problems. From consulting to design, installation, commissioning, maintenance and upgrades, Static Power has built a reputation for exceeding customer expectations.

The problem

A wide variety of local, state, and federal agencies and offices utilize Static Power’s expertise, and government business is a significant percentage of the company’s business and growth. Keeping up to date on trends and needs, as well as locating and tracking opportunities across a wide geographic area, was challenging.

In addition, bid opportunities are even more complex for Static Power, since their technology and expertise is utilized across many different fields. From Johns Hopkins Healthcare and the National Cancer Institute, to local and state offices, and the U.S. State Department, Static Power helps keep dependable power flowing.

The solution

Static Power prides itself on taking care of its customers, and they looked for the same commitment in a government business intelligence provider. They turned to back in 2004, and have been a client ever since.

“A large portion of our business is with the government, and we use to see bid opportunities,” said Julie Winans, Contract Administrator.

She said that the variety of offerings makes finding bids and opportunities easier and more convenient. “We use both the emails and the web site to get the information we need, and then share it with the sales team,” she said.

In a very competitive field and a crowded marketplace, she said, opportunities help them “not miss a bid”, which keeps them a satisfied customer. “We keep renewing, so you know that means you’re doing something right,” she added.
