Description:   Notice TextPUBLIC NOTICEPima County Community & Workforce Development ("CWD") Community Action Agency Board ("CAAB")The Pima County CAAB is seeking three (3) Low-Income Representative and two (2) Private Sector Representatives to serve on the CAAB. The term for the representatives shall be for four (4) years and representatives may serve up to two (2) consecutive terms.The CAAB is accepting applications from Friday, June 10, 2022 to Friday, July 8, 2022 by this public advertisement and by soliciting nominations from Pima County neighborhood and community organizations that serve a Pima County low-income community.The Pima County Community Action Agency's ("CAA") mission is to assist low-income individuals and families with reaching higher levels of economic and social self-sufficiency through the delivery of basic needs services and to advocate for the poor. The CAA will endeavor to deliver services in a respectful, timely, and compassionate manner.The Pima County CAAB, established under the federal Community Services Block Grant ("CSBG"), is composed of up to 15 individuals from Pima County. Five (5) members are representatives appointed by the Pima County Board of Supervisors who represent each supervisor's district; five (5) members are representatives of low-income communities appointed by democratic selection procedures that includes an application process coordinated by the CAA staff; and five (5) members are representatives of the private sector appointed by the CAAB.One of the responsibilities of the CAAB members is to participate in the CAA Request for Proposal ("RFP") process by reading and scoring proposals, and making recommendations, for proposers to be awarded contracts for CSBG funding, to the Pima County Board of Supervisors.Criteria for Low-Income Representative1. Representatives must be 18 years or older, reside in the Pima County service area, and actively participate in the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of CSBG-funded programs.2. It is highly recommended low-income individuals serve on the board, but it is not required that all Low-Income Representatives be low-income themselves. Representatives who are not low- income must represent the low-income community in some legitimate capacity. This can include someone with first-hand experience or direct knowledge of the challenges facing the low-income population in Pima County. The ideal Low-Income Representative would be BOTH low-income and active in the low-income community and anti-poverty causes.Criteria for Private Sector Representatives1. Private Sector Representatives will be selected from categories that include Community Advocacy and Education (private or public educational institution, religious organization, civil rights group, tenant group, other advocacy groups); Labor (labor union organization); Housing and Utilities (home builder association, housing assistance, utility company); and Business and Industry (chamber of commerce, financial institution, business industry organization).Please visit https://webcms.pima.gov/cms/one.aspx?portalld=169&pageld=22581 to obtain an application and apply. Applicants will be notified by telephone and email as to the results of the successful candidates.Application/Nomination Process1. CAAB vacancies are being advertised at least 30 days prior to the selection date to allow for adequate public notice and to ensure that low-income persons have equal access to the process.2. Low-Income Representatives will be selected through an application and nomination process and the Private Sector Representatives will be appointed by the CAAB.3. The Committee will review all applications and nominations and may conduct interviews prior to 07/26/2022 to determine those best-qualified, willing, and able to serve.4. The CAAB is also conducting additional outreach and actively soliciting applications/nominations from local organizations that serve the low-income community through a letter of invitation that includes the application and an information flyer. The CAAB may also conduct follow-up phone calls, and make presentations to solicit potential nominees to ensure broad outreach and equal access to the process.5. The CAAB Administrative Support Staff has created a public notice flyer that lists the qualifications and responsibilities for three (3) Low-Income Representative and two (2) Private Sector Representatives and they have been adequately posted for public view.6. The CAAB has appointed a democratic CAAB Membership Selection Committee that will select the best-qualified candidates at the 07/23/2022 Committee meeting based on defined selection criteria.7.
